The Modern Red SchoolHouse Institute, based in Nashville, Tennessee, is a non-profit organization that provides customized professional development based upon solid evidence of what works in highly effective schools.  We help you reach your school improvement goals:

Modern Red SchoolHouse consultants work shoulder-to-shoulder with faculty and administration to implement proven approaches in six areas that research indicates lead to higher achievement—curriculum and instruction, standards and assessment, school organization and finance, technology, parent and community partnerships, and professional development.

Currently working with 80 districts in 30 states, Modern Red SchoolHouse serves schools with diverse populations. Schools of all types—urban and rural; public, charter, and magnet—have turned to MRSH for their professional development needs. The Institute provides services to a large number of high-poverty and low-performing districts. Additionally, MRSH provides a wide array of professional development for entire school districts.

The Modern Red SchoolHouse Institute was established as a non-profit organization in 1997. However, the work of the Institute began in 1991 at the Hudson Institute, a non-profit research organization in Indianapolis, Indiana. As one of the New American Schools "break the mold" school reform designs, the Institute completed demonstration site implementation in six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school in 1996. Full implementation of the Modern Red SchoolHouse approach began in 1997. Since that time, the Institute has partnered with more than 300 individual schools in over 30 states.
