| Tony Abernathy, Trainer |

Mr. Abernathy has 30 years experience as an elementary science teacher, Director of Continuing Education at Danville Junior College and College of Lake County, Technology Coordinator for Washington Township and Indiana Public Schools, an education consultant for Lifelong Learning Center, elementary and middle school principal, and education consultant for PLATO Learning, Inc. He has a B.A. in elementary education and a minor in general science from Purdue University, an M.A. in teaching and a minor in psychology from DePauw University, post-graduate studies in integrating math, science, and technology from Montana State, and a distance education certificate from Indiana University. |

| Erma Anderson, Trainer |

Ms. Anderson is a former high school mathematics and science teacher. She was an Albert Einstein Congressional Fellow and worked in the U.S. Senate as a legislative assistant in the office of Senator Arlen Specter. She was a Christa McAuliffe Fellow with the National Foundation for the Improvement of Education. For the last 12 years, she has worked closely with the National Science Teachers Association on a number of projects including the Scope Sequence and Coordination curriculum project, the Teacher Center professional development project, the development of sciLINKS, and the Mathematics Science partnership eMentoring project. She also has served as standards specialist with the Council for Basic Education's Schools Around the World and standards review projects. She worked with the National Research Council in the final development of the National Science Education Standards. Ms. Anderson has worked as a consultant for a number of organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Project 2061, the Education Trust, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and the National Science Teachers Association, and she has presented at conferences for the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Science Teachers Association, the Education Trust, and the National Staff Development Council. Ms. Anderson earned a B.S. in biology and mathematics from Shippensburg University , an M.S.T. in chemistry and mathematics from the College of William and Mary, and has done graduate work in physics through Marshall University and Pennsylvania State University. |

| Mary Ann Boone, Trainer |

Mrs. Boone began her teaching career 31 years ago as a Title I reading teacher at the elementary level. All of her educational experience has been in North Carolina as she taught at the elementary and middle levels. She has 23 years of experience as a middle school language arts teacher that included advanced learner students along with exceptional children in an inclusion classroom setting. Mrs. Boone has been a lead teacher, chair of language arts, chair of her school’s leadership team and mentored numerous novice teachers. During the last 8 years of her career, Mrs. Boone served her school in the capacity of curriculum facilitator, which included such tasks as professional development leadership, demonstration lessons for teachers, coaching and consulting with teachers, curriculum planning, instruction, and assessment. Mrs. Boone earned her BA degree from Appalachian State University and her MA degree (K-12 Reading) from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. She has been a National Board Certified Teacher since 2000 in the area of Young Adolescents English/Language Arts. She also attended Lucy Calkins Summer Writing Academy at The Teachers’ College at Columbia University in New York City. Mrs. Boone has presented at state (NCMA) and national middle school conferences (NMSA). |

| Faye Bowman, Trainer |

Ms. Bowman received her Bachelor of Science degree in education from East Carolina University and her Master's in reading from Appalachian State University. She is National Board Certified and also certified in academically gifted education. Ms. Bowman retired after 25 years with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system, where she taught corrective reading in the classroom at the elementary level, competence reading at the high school level, and she was an Academic Facilitatorat the middle school level. For nine years, she was a consultant for Scott-Foresman Publishers. Ms. Bowman has presented at the North Carolina Reading Association conference, the North Carolina NCTE, the North Carolina middle school conference, and a Smithsonian National Teleconference. |

| Kathryn Bremner, Trainer |

Ms. Bremner is a former math and science middle school teacher. During her ten years at the middle grades level, Ms. Bremner was a member of a collaborative team working extensively with gifted learning, special needs, and English as a second language students. In addition to her role as a classroom teacher, Ms. Bremner served as a clinical faculty member to James Madison University's middle grades program, co-teaching pre-service education classes. Ms. Bremner continues to work directly with the Virginia Middle School Association, the Virginia Advisory Committee for the Education of the Gifted, and the Virginia Schools to Watch program. Ms. Bremner received a B.S. degree in Sociology from Bridgewater College, an M.Ed degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in middle grades curriculum and an endorsement in Educational Leadership from James Madison University. |

| Bruce A. Camblin, Trainer |

Mr. Camblin has served as Managing Consultant for Change Systems for Educators since 1995. His classroom experience includes music teacher, high school band director, assessment, and mathematics. He received his B.M.E. and M.M.E. from the University of Michigan and has extended mathematics study from the University of Northern Colorado and Colorado State University. |

| Eloise Carey, Trainer |

Ms. Carey has more than 35 years experience in education in Toledo, Ohio. Her career began as a third grade teacher. She was a building representative (head teacher) for 18 years and a team leader for the district’s telephone homework assistance program, Dial-A-Teacher, for ten years. She also worked as an elementary assistant principal and an elementary principal and concluded her career as a central office administrator working as an instructional planner. As an instructional planner, she was part of a team which worked on efforts that supported change and reform in designated under-performing schools. Ms. Carey has worked with all aspects of elementary curricula. She has served on district-wide elementary curriculum committees and on the review panel that oversaw the mentoring of first-year teachers. She served four years as an administrative peer mentor working with new elementary principals. She also served on the board that oversaw the recruitment and training of new administrators in the district. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and a Master’s degree in Education from Indiana University at Bloomington. She has more than 60 post-graduate hours from Indiana University and the University of Toledo (Ohio). |

| Dr. Nancy Chalex, Trainer |

Dr. Nancy Chalex has over thirty years of experience as a teacher, building administrator, and national literacy consultant. She has taught at all levels from early childhood classes to graduate level courses and is particularly interested in professional development that improves teachers’ impact on children’s literacy acquisition. In her role as a literacy consultant, she provides teacher workshops and coaching sessions as well as classroom demonstration lessons and has worked in 15 states and Puerto Rico. Dr. Chalex is a recognized presenter at local, state, and national conferences on topics related to literacy, and her conference presentations include the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), International Reading Association (IRA), Illinois IRA, Illinois Association for Multilingual and Multicultural Education (IAMME), and the National Staff Development Council (NSDC). She is the author of “Effective Leadership Involves Collaboration,” which was published in Forester Magazine, is trained as a Lincoln Foundation Examiner, and was a participant in the Harvard Principals’ Center. She was awarded a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University, a Certificate of Advanced Studies and M.Ed. from Concordia University, and a B.A. from Northwestern University with a concentration in secondary education. |

| Laci Coppins, Trainer |

Others describe Laci Coppins as creative, visionary, spirited, and professional. She began her path in education with the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools District as a classroom teacher; instructing students at the first and third grade level. Currently, Ms. Coppins works as a principal with Williamson County Schools, also located in Nashville, where she was awarded “Rookie of the Year” during her initial term. As principal and instructional leader, her focus remains to design an educational program that enhances student achievement. Ms. Coppins obtained a bachelor of arts degree from Fisk University and later served the university as an adjunct professor. She received her master’s in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University, where she is presently a doctoral candidate. Ms Coppins anticipates completion of her degree in May 2008. Additionally, she participated in the NASA Educators Workshop (NEW) in Langley, VA. Ms. Coppins developed and trained fellow educators in the creation of Higher Level Thinking Centers, in conjunction with the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. Featured by Nashville Public Television (Npt) in the Instructional Series, Best Practices, Ms. Coppins was highlighted for her teaching on the benefit of using effective Questioning Techniques. As a facilitator with the National Teacher Training Institute of New York (NTTI), she led in-service for teachers on effective ways of Incorporating Technology into Daily Lessons. |

| Dr. Joseph Czarnecki, Trainer |

Dr. Czarnecki has extensive experience in education, with a particular emphasis on reading. He has been a classroom teacher, elementary school principal, reading supervisor, and college instructor. Dr. Czarnecki has written journal articles and has contributed to textbooks on reading and teaching. He has served as a reading consultant and advisor for school systems, publishers, state and federal agencies including the Public Broadcasting System, the Federal Trade Commission, and Maryland Public Television. His "Guest Reader Program" received national attention in Jim Trelease's Read-Aloud Handbook. He has also served on state and university reading task forces, created on-line courses, and is currently designing and teaching graduate reading courses at Johns Hopkins University. |

Mr. Daly has served in various positions with the Madison Metropolitan School District in Madison, Wisconsin for 30 years. He has been a middle school classroom teacher for ten years, Learning Coordinator for six years, Curriculum Coordinator for K-12 Language Arts and Social Studies for five years, principal for seven years, and most recently was Senior Training and Research Specialist at UW-WCER. He earned his B.S. in education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and his Master's in curriculum and instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. |

| Dr. Vivian Dillihunt, Trainer |

Dr. Dillihunt retired from Memphis City Schools in June, 2004. In her last position there, she performed the duties of an area superintendent and was responsible for the supervision and management of sixty-two schools in her district. She has served also as a teacher in the regular, remedial, and gifted program classroom. For a number of years, she worked as a guidance counselor and instructional supervisor. While principal, her school was recognized by President Bill Clinton as a high-performing, high-poverty school. The school also served as a national demonstration site for Modern Red SchoolHouse and has welcomed visitors from around the world. |
