Achievement Results in South Carolina
English/Language Arts
Over the past 5 years, Modern Red SchoolHouse has partnered wtih over a dozen schools in South Carolina--some implementing comprehensive school reform (CSR) and others requesting targeted assistance to meet AYP goals. Here are highlights from three schools that were struggling with student achievement and chose to improve with the help of Modern Red SchoolHouse: Guinyard-Butler Middle School in Barnwell School District 45, Hollis Academy in Greenville County School District, and Busbee Elementary School in Aiken County School District.
After one and a half years with Modern Red SchoolHouse, Guinyard-Butler Middle School showed a slight gain in the percentage of students meeting standards when the state showed no gains at all. (Note: This is the only middle school in the district, so state data was used for comparison.) Hollis Academy, after two years with Modern Red SchoolHouse, showed gains significantly greater than the district for a comparable period. Busbee Elementary, after one and a half years with Modern Red SchoolHouse, showed gains significantly greater than the district for a comparable period.
